On May 14, the signing and inauguration ceremony for the Joint Technology Innovation and Transfer Laboratory between East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and Changzhou Vnici Digital Technology Co., Ltd., was held at the Advanced Materials Building. Attending the ceremony were Mr. He Xuanyu, Chairman and General Manager of Changzhou Vnici Digital Technology Co., Ltd., Mr. Yin Hua, Vice Chairman, and Mr. Wang Qiusen, Technical Director; Professor Zhuang Qixin, Vice Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Development and Dean of the Institute of Advanced Technology and Equipment at ECUST; Professor Du Jianzhong, Dean of the School of Materials; Vice Deans Niu Dechao and Zhang Yan; among other faculty members. The ceremony was hosted by Vice Dean Niu Dechao.
In his speech, Dean Du Jianzhong emphasized that materials science is a key discipline at ECUST, with strong foundations and abundant achievements in the field of chemical new materials. He stated that the collaboration with VNICI represents a precise integration of university research resources with enterprise industrial advantages. The School of Materials will leverage its disciplinary and talent strengths to further deepen industry-academia-research integration, with the expectation of achieving mutual benefits and collaborative innovation. Vice Dean Niu Dechao introduced the current development of the school in terms of disciplinary construction, talent teams, research bases, key development directions, and university-enterprise cooperation.
Mr. He Xuanyu, on behalf of VNICI, reviewed the history of collaboration between the two parties. Since the official cooperation began in August 2023, substantial progress has been made in the research and development of polymer materials for 3D printing. The establishment of the Joint Technology Innovation and Transfer Laboratory marks an important milestone in moving from project-based cooperation to deep strategic collaboration. He expressed that VNICI will leverage ECUST’s talent and technological advantages in new materials to jointly promote the R&D and industrialization of additive manufacturing materials, striving for domestic substitution in critical materials.
Professor Zhuang Qixin expressed gratitude for VNICI’s trust and support, stating that future research and innovation will continue to be enterprise-driven, fully utilizing research and talent strengths to promote in-depth collaboration in technology development, project applications, and achievement transformation/technology commercialization.
Representatives He Xuanyu and Zhuang Qixin signed the agreement, while Yin Hua and Du Jianzhong jointly unveiled the plaque for the laboratory.
During the discussion, both parties reached consensus on joint project applications and technological breakthroughs, confirming that the Joint Laboratory will serve as a platform to deepen cooperation and strengthen industrial advantages. Zhang Yan, head of the Joint Technology Innovation and Transfer Laboratory, introduced the three-year work plan, highlighting a continued focus on high-performance 3D printing materials, accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and supporting high-quality industrial development.
